The President’s Award program is a program that seeks to encourage young people to chart their own paths of self-discovery and growth. It is for all learners between the ages of 14 and 24. The aim of this program is to get the individual “ World Ready”.
Through this program, the learner will gain the following: Self-reliance, Personal Growth, Environmental Education, Adventure and Adrenaline and most of all, Respect. It will empower the learner to become stronger and more confident in controlling their lives and claiming one’s rights as a young adult. It will give them self-determination, enabling them to represent themselves with their authority. The program teaches them to take action, to be involved to assistance and support without compensation, and to find their purpose.
The program structure consists of a Bronze level (6 months), a Silver level (6 months) and then the Gold level (12 Months) Each program is divided into 4 sections: Skills, Services, Physical activities and then lastly the Adventurous journey or camp.
Expected costs for PRESIDENT’S AWARD 2025:
Bronze registration : R750
Silver Registration : R750
Gold registration : R1700
Adventurous journey camp prices are not included or part of the registration fees. All camps are taking place at registered and approved vendors. Camp costs (Bronze and Silver) depend on the total number of learners attending, fuel costs, and programme outcomes.
Please note that learners must join at the beginning of the year to benefit from this opportunity. You cannot join halfway through the year. This is a registered activity, and your achievements even count towards University admission after school.
Estimated costs for 2025: R3000 per camp all-inclusive. This is not a payment for the teacher but to the Official organisation “President’s Award”

The President’s Award for Youth Empowerment
The President’s Award for Youth Empowerment is the South African chapter of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award. It is a self-development programme aimed at young people aged 14 to 24, encouraging them to engage in various activities that foster personal growth, community service, and leadership skills.
Programme Levels
Participants can enroll in three progressive levels:
Bronze: Minimum age 14; requires at least 6 months to complete.
Silver: Minimum age 15; requires at least 12 months to complete.
Gold: Minimum age 16; requires at least 18 months to complete.
Each level encompasses four core sections:
Service: Engaging in community service activities.
Skills: Developing personal interests and practical skills.
Physical Recreation: Participating in physical activities to improve fitness.
An additional Residential Project is required at the Gold level, involving a purposeful experience with people who are not the participant’s usual companions, in an unfamiliar environment.
